Alphonse Kipoliongo Azuato Ma Dalingi joined his Heavenly Father on March 18, 2024, after a brief stay at Rehabilitation Facilities in Bethesda. He was surrounded by his loving sons Hilaire, Franck, daughter Justine, and son and daughter-in-law Henry and Mamie Sese.
Alphonse courageously faced the challenges of aging, always retaining his joyful nature enriched by children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Born on October 10, 1926, he had recently celebrated his 97th birthday. The son of Albert Dalingi and Gatoto Veronique, he came from a family of three brothers and four sisters: Albert, Modeste, Henriette, Elizabeth, Apolinaire, and Sophie.
He was the father of many children, they are Godet Kipoliongo (deceased), Henriette Kipoliongo, Veronique Kipoliongo, Elizabeth Kipoliongo (deceased), Marcel Fariala (deceased), Hilaire Kipoliongo, Lucie Kipoliongo, Justine Kipoliongo, Alphonse Daling, Albert Kipoliongo, Kabibi Kipoliongo, Safi Kipoliongo (deceased), Gatoto Fariaha, Franck Kipoliongo, Bob Kipoliongo, Azuato Kipoliongo (deceased), Deliason Kipoliongo and Laurenne Kipoliongo. A devoted grandfather he leaves behind many grandchildren, totaling 67 descendants.
Alphonse's educational journey took him to Ecole Normale de Buta, where he studied government administration. He began his career at the Office Congolais de Post et Telecom, working there until 1969 before transitioning to the State Department, where he served as a diplomat in multiple countries including Rwanda, Guinea, Togo, Tanzania, and the United States. He later served as an executive assistant at the Ministry of Public Works until his retirement.
An avid soccer fan and player in his youth, Alphonse prided himself on his skills on the field. In his later years, he enjoyed revisiting classic soccer matches and championships. His passion for music was evident through his love for artists like Luambo Makiadi, Tabu Ley, Mbilia Bel, and Fally Ipupa, especially the song "Associe."
A practicing Catholic, Alphonse was a member of various Catholic communities throughout his life including Notre Dame Du Congo. In the United States, he attended services in Maryland and Virginia. He also found a spiritual home at the Hope of Glory Church in Dumfries, Virginia, under Pastor Eddie Umba Nditula.
Alphonse was known for his joyful spirit and love of sharing life experiences with his family, imparting wisdom from his rich life journey. He was deeply loved by many.
