Florence Isabella Crutchfield was born November 27, 1927, in Forest Glen Silver Spring, Maryland to the late Clifford and Florence (Simms) Nelson. She transitioned to glory on April 5, 2024.
Florence grew up in the Linden Silver Spring area where she attended Montgomery County public schools. She worked many years for the late Tip O’Neill, 47th Speaker of the United State House of Representatives. The O’Neill family still today treated her as a family member. Florence is loved by many.
She loved to entertain with her great smile and dance moves at 95 in a wheelchair when she won first prize at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Oakview. Florence had many hobbies; she was faithful to playing cards, bingo and exercising up to the age of 93. Florence loved to travel with her husband James to different Golf tournaments within United States; her favorite trip was with her sister Hazel Love when they went to Hawaii. She loved making people happy, she will be missed by all.
Florence and James married June 24, 1950 in the present of family members and devoted friends.
Florence was a true Christian she loved going to church, she would attend faithfully very rarely missing a Sunday service. She was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church which she held many positions many years later she join First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar.
Florence has joined in eternity, her parents, one son Nelson Oscar Reddix, five Brothers – Matthew, Costello, Jeff, Freddie and Norman, three Sisters– Pearl, Hazel and Gail.
She leaves to cherish her memory Godson, Duane Carey; two nephews, two nieces and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and very close friends.
