Phyllis Fowler Obituary

“I thank my God upon Remembrance of you” Philippians 1:2

Phyllis Michele Fowler, fondly known by family as Michele or MiMi, was born December 29, 1962 to the late Edgar Fowler, Sr. and Anniebelle Hunt in Gulfport, MS. She transitioned peacefully March 13, 2024.

Phyllis gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined St. Therese Catholic Church, where she enjoyed singing on the choir. She graduated Gulfport High School in 1981 and attended Phillips College.

She was a hard worker, often fondly referred to by family as the little Jamaican because most of her adult life she held more than one job. She worked several years for a cleaning agency which resulted in her starting her own cleaning service. Though she no longer has the business, she maintains a friendly relationship with her clients. She worked at what is now Truist Bank for 31 years where she was a reliable and efficient employee until her illness.

Michele was an avid Ravens fan and collected everything Ravens. This would be her season with free agency, columbine, and the draft. She had a love for dogs though she no longer owned a dog, she enjoyed sitting for her friend Sara’s dog, Tate. Michele also enjoyed mystery and horror movie and could frequently be found watching them on Friday nights with her brother Zach.

Michele’s friendly, light hearted attitude drew many people to her. She enjoyed family and family gathering. She was organizing a gathering when she became ill. She always had a friendly smile for everyone. She could make you laugh without trying. She never met a stranger. Her energy was infectious, even in from hospital bed she was making others laugh. She wanted everyone to be as happy as she was. She had a never give up attitude, she was a survival.

Michele will be missed by her beloved family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her loving mother, Annie Hunt, three brothers: Gerald Fowler (Jerrlyn) of New Orleans, LA, Edgar Fowler, Jr. (Rhonda) of Gulfport, MS, Zachary Fowler (Suzelyn) of Gaithersburg, MD and one sister Mary Fowler of Elizabethtown, KY and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
