Calvin Eugene Claggett

Calvin "Cakes" Eugene Claggett departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Brooke Grove Retirement Village located at 18100 Slade School Road in Sandy Spring, MD.  He was born on March 3, 1928 in Montgomery County, MD.   He was the son of the late Luther and Irene Claggett.

Calvin was educated in Montgomery County Public Schools, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Rockville, MD.  He worked for the Montgomery County Public School System for several years, and then was employed at Carl W. Korby Company where he retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, playing horseshoes, and shooting pool.  He was a faithful member of Emory Grove United Methodist Church until his illness prevented him from attending.

Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Jean; three children, Toi, Ron, and Devon (Bonnie); six grandchildren, Ron Jr., Briani, Deyana, Christian, Emalee, and Jeremiah; two great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Bernice Murray; two brothers-in-law, Richard Murray, Jr. (Glenda) and Leroy Murray (Mae); two sisters-in-law, Elaine Offord and Marylyn Stewart (Dwight); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Luther and Irene Claggett; two sisters, Cathryn and Agnes; one brother, Russell; granddaughter, Little Toi; and father-in-law, Richard Murray. Sr.
