Eliza Jane Thompson

In sad but loving memory of Eliza Thompson who entered eternal rest on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Manor Care Health Services Nursing Home, Chevy Chase, Maryland. In the days leading up to her passing she was surrounded by family for whom she so deeply loved. She was born on June 13, 1929 in Rockville, Maryland to Letitia Brodgen and Raymond Martin. Eliza was the youngest of 2 siblings. Her mother Letitia Brodgen and brother Charles Martin preceded her in death. Eliza attended school in Montgomery County. She learned early in life to work and support herself as a childcare provider. It was not always easy, but she seldom complained. She later met and married William O. Thompson. The two settled down and started a family which led to her becoming a stay at home Mom. Eliza, affectionately called Liza by her family and friends was always quiet and reserved, but to know her was to love her. When she was comfortable with getting to know you, she would talk a hole in your head and say some of the funniest things and make you laugh, shake your head, and say to yourself "No She Did Not Just Say That"! Eliza also enjoyed family gatherings, bus trips, listening to oldie but goodies on WPFW and watching the Food Network, All My Children, General Hospital, and the TEN Christian Channel. Her favorite gospel singer was Mahalia Jackson and she loved homemade chicken noodle soup, Apple Pie a la Mode, cakes, cookies, chocolate and butterscotch candy. Eliza  leaves to cherish her memory three devoted children, Lynette Thompson,  Patrick Thompson, and Leslie Thompson; a devoted daughter-in-law Brenda Thompson; one grandson Marco A. Calito; two sisters­-in-law, Helen E. Jackson and Evelyn Jackson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to hold her close to their hearts on this day.
