George Worthington Awkard, Sr.

George Worthington Awkard, Sr. “Paddy”, was born in Olney, MD on November 9, 1933, and entered heaven on August 17, 2018 at the age of 84. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, residing in Brookeville, MD at the time of his passing. During life, he worked as an Engineer for several businesses, most recently being Amtrak. George leaves to carry on his memory  his wife of 48 years, Blondie J. Awkard; his children Lela Jackson (Sherry), George W. Awkard, Jr. “Butchie”, and Phyllis Awkard. He also leaves his brother Cornelius “Chummy” Awkard, and sister Grace “Ting” Breedlove.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Alice Awkard; his sisters, Deborah Dupree, H. Norene Mersereau, and Phyllis Smith; along with his brothers, Russell Awkard, Woodruff Awkard, Robert Awkard, and Leon Awkard.
