Our beloved Melanie Laverne Dorsey, 61, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2018, She was born December 4, 1956 to the late Henry Bernard and Evelyn Lenore Waters.

At a later age, she went on to receive her high school diploma, and then in 2010, she graduated from Kaplan University with a certificate as a Medical Assistant. She was employed for 10 years at Food Lion, and most recently at Weis Market.
Melanie helped raise her nieces and nephews which she took pride in, and her greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of her life, Paul "Sonny" Dorsey and becoming a mother to Alonzo Dorsey at the age of 40. She was a huge supporter of Alonzo, always attending each extracurricular activity and/or sporting event from his childhood up until the time of her death.
She was a proud mother and doted on her son. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, listening to music, dancing, reminiscing on family memories and spending time with family and friends.

I'M FREE
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard 1him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
