Ruben Rouse Obituary

Ruben Rouse Jr. was called to eternal rest on December 1st 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring Maryland.

Ruben was born in Manning South Carolina to the late Rubin Rouse Sr. and Thelma F. Rouse on March 12th, 1965.

Ruben accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Calvary Fire Baptize Holiness Church in Manning, South Carolina.  During his early formative years, he was raised in the home of his maternal grandmother, Hester Fulton, and his uncle Johnny Lee Fulton.  He later moved to Washington, DC in the early 1970’s with his mother and siblings and attended Catholic schools.

He later was baptized and became a lifelong member of Cross Creek Apostolic Church

In 1983 he met Donna Swope, who later became his wife.  After their marriage, Ruben began a career in the military as a member of the DC National Guard. He continued his career serving the most vulnerable children in the District of Columbia, at DC Child and Family services as well as a telecommunications specialist for DC.NET.  It is notable that he learned his telecommunication skills from his father-in-law, Stephen Swope who had many years of experience in the telecommunications industry.  Ruben was also very active in his church Cross Creek.

He was an avid reader, and often read the entire King James Version of the Holy Bible.  He was also a lover of all genres of music, spending time with his family, and inspiring his children to be their best.  He also spends countless hours doing whatever was necessary for disenfranchised youth of the District of Columbia.

Those left to cherish his memory are:  Donna Rouse his devoted wife of 33 years, His 3 sons Akeel, Alijah, and Azariah Rouse and 2 Daughters Aliyah and Ahsha Rouse. Left Behind is also his Two sisters, Tammy D. Williams (Roger) of Germantown Maryland; Sandra T. Rouse, of Dalzell South Carolina; A father-in-law Stephen Swope; two brother-in-laws Michael and David Swope; and one sister-in-law, Jennifer Garrett; an uncle Johnny Lee Fulton (Elise of Manning South Carolina); and uncle Albert Fulton of Washington, DC; a host of nieces nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

Ruben Rouse was a visionary, a writer, a leader, a friend, a lover, a father and a strong man of God who will always be remembered and loved as so. Rest In peace.
