We pause today to pay tribute to the life of Tyrone Ladrell Cooper who died suddenly on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born at Prince George's Hospital on October 26, 1976 to Myra Snowden and Leon James Cooper Sr. Tyrone affectionately known as Tye had many other nicknames in which he went by: Billy, Squirrel, Phil, Bare, Lenny, Curly Head and Coop. Tye was blessed to be raised by parents who instilled Christian values. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in his heart at a young age. He attended Queen's Chapel United Methodist Church with his family. Tye loved music, especially, oldies but goodies. His favorite song was I wish it would Rain by the Temptations. He enjoyed writing music and was a member of the children's choir growing up. Later during his life, he became of member of The Chosen Few and Personality Band. There were so many memories that were created in this band, especially, with his cousins and community friends. Tye cherished each of those relationships. Tye was educated in the Prince George's County Public School System. During his spare time, he enjoyed cutting hair and sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Tye was a die-hard Cowboys fan. When he was teenager, he played soccer and football at the Beltsville Boys & Girls Club. Tye was working very hard to obtain a career in truck driving. He had just completed his Lerner's Permit in CDL driving before God decided that he had use for one solider in heavy. On February 26, 2000, he was joined in Holy Matrimony with his beautiful wife, Akila Johnson. Tye was in love with Akila. The two of them were inseparable, when you saw one, you saw the other. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children especially his grandkids. Tye shared a special bond with many to include Akila's father Darryl Johnson who he affectionately called his second dad. His aunts Vondalee Ryan and Cheryl Campbell and his uncle William Jones who he caringly called, uncle Baldy. There was never a dull moment with Tye. He always smiled and kept laughter in his heart. Our beloved Tye leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife, Akila Cooper and their five children, Kailah Robinson Gafori, Dakaree Johnson, Breanna Brown, Tyreon Cooper Kaiya Harrington Cooper-Johnson; five grandchildren: Rylee Marquee Cooper, Hailoh Robinson (Pop-Pop), Harleh Robinson (Noonay), Rocquel-Marie Gafari, and Journi Belari Johnson; his father, Leon James Cooper; his mother, Myra Snowden (Michael); one sister: Latasha Ball (James); three nieces: Jailyn Jani yah and Jamerah Ball; two nephews: Jaquan and Jamari Ball; one great-nephew, Amir Raddick; father-in law; Darryl Johnson; five Aunts: Geraldine Hebron, Carolyn David, Cheryl Campbell (William), Vondalee Rynn, and Daphne McManus; four uncles: William Jones (Diane), Charles Eld1idge (Barbara), Na thaniel Jones (Shirley), and Robert McManus; godfather, Steven Byrd; three godchildren: Tien-a Smith (Feedie), Sharai Gorham, and Jasean Washington (Jiggy); four godsisters: Estella Jones, Renada Dodson, Tamika Byrd, and Jere Fegans; three godbrothers: Lonnie Moore, Corey and Steven Byrd Jr.; four sisters in-law: Crystle Page, Marissa Stokes, Nikki Bell and Katia Wilks (Clifton); three brothers-in-law: Derwin Ross (Laquita), James (Latasha) and Kenon Johnson; special friends: Terrell Smith, Tyrone Washing ton, Kevin Matthews, Maurice Briscoe (Mo), Marcus Campbeil (Marty), George Smith Jr. (Nut), Lester Prince, and Swenton Stroman, and a host of family and friends.
