Vasquartez "Vas" Vasxylogen Peyton, departed this life on March 1, 2019 in Rockville, Maryland. He was born on January 27, 1949 to the late Roy Vee Peyton and late Louise Rebecca Peyton in Bethesda, MD. Vas resided in Gaithersburg with his daughter, Vanessa and his significant other, Charlene LaBelle. He was the second child of seven. He graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1968 and enjoyed running cross country and Track and Field. He held the school record and was the first athlete in school history to run the half mile in under two minutes. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. Vas served his Basic Combat Training (September 1969-1971) at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina, Ft. Lewis, for Advanced Combat Training. His training prepared him to serve in The Republic of Vietnam conflict. While in Vietnam (March 1970-1971), Vas earned numerous medals and badges for outstanding military service and heroism , to include: The National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), the Air Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and received Certificates of Appreciation from the Top General s and the President of the United States of America. Vas worked for Jim Coleman Automotive for 24 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins (he loved them Skins), collecting coins, and watching track and field. He always enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Vas leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Vanessa Peyton; his significant other, Charlene LaBelle (Gaithersburg, MD); three sisters, Valerie Smith (Pearland, TX), Zee Plummer (Germantown, MD), and Margo Peyton (Louisville, KY) ; and two brothers, Tocque Peyton (Gaithersburg, MD), and Monty Peyton (Smithburg, MD), and his late brother, Mel Peyton; brother-in-law, Roland B. Smith, II (Pearland , TX); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins , and other loving relatives and friends.
