Adrian Scott Obituary

Adrian Samuel Leslie Scott was born on July 24,1982, in Rome, Italy to Sylvanus and Lottie Scott.  A few months following his birth, the family relocated to Brussels, Belgium, where they spent the next three years on diplomatic detail for the Sierra Leone government. The summer of 1985 brought another opportunity for a new experience, one that would prove foundational for both Adrian and his older brother Glenn, as the family moved again to spend the next six years in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This move afforded Adrian the opportunity to know and live with both his paternal and maternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. In addition to this blessing, Freetown would be the place where Adrian would start school and be introduced to church.

This time spent in Freetown left an indelible cultural mark that followed Adrian all the way to his migration to the United States in 1991. The family settled and planted roots in Maryland, first in Silver Spring then in Gaithersburg, where Adrian matriculated through school and built a community with friends he would come to consider his extended family. One family in particular had a special place in his heart: Ms. Alicia Robinson referred to Adrian as her son, and Adrian joyfully called her children, Kevin, Brent and Lanicia, his brothers and sister.

Vocationally, Adrian found a passion and purpose in photography. He loved to capture the special moments of those around him.  At weddings, on birthdays, on special days, and any other day, he was ready with his camera and equipment in hand to capture a golden moment. To pass time, he would simply pose for the camera himself. Another passion was his love for music. Years ago Adrian’s big dream was to join his brother’s group, FourTune. When that was not possible, due to health restraints, he settled for writing and producing songs with and for local artists and, more recently, with his nephews, Isaiah and Cameron. The great passion of his life was spending time with his family.  He loved to show off his culinary skills, loved playing games with friends and family, loved diving into a robust debate, and loved going to or streaming movies. He was always willing to spend time behind the camera taking pictures of his nephews.

Adrian accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and his growth in the Lord was evident. He had a strong appreciation for God’s Word and was always looking for opportunities to grow in faith and knowledge. At Clifton Park, he was regular in worship and Bible study, and was a disciple in the by invitation-only Great Commission Groups, where he co-led the FAITH Foundations study for his group.  Adrian was a witness and an apologist as he took every opportunity to share his knowledge of and experience with Christ with close friends and friends he made at dialysis. He used what he loved, photography, to serve the Lord he loved, being a vital part of the Communications Ministry at Clifton Park until his passing.

The Lord called Adrian home on the morning of May 21, 2024.  As he transitioned, he was surrounded and encouraged by family and friends.  And, though a brief interruption in our fellowship with him has ensued, those looking forward to a reunion with him are his parents, Sylvanus and Lottie Scott, brother, Rev. Glenn Scott, sister-in-law, Kiana Scott, nephews, Isaiah, Elijah, and Cameron-Micah Scott, a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins in the United States, Sierra Leone, and Europe, and his Clifton Park family.
