Barbara Delores Jackson, known to most as “Billie” was born on May 10, 1934 to the late James Henry Brown and Dorine V. Harris in Washington, DC. Barbara, passed peacefully on June 9, 2020 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
Barbara’s, education began in Rockville, MD. at Rockville Colored School, Lincoln High School; from there she went on to earn a degree at Montgomery County Community College in Rockville, MD. She was employed at Montgomery County Public Schools for 36 years. Barbara, loved sports, going to the casinos, and her Redskins.
On May 23, 1951 she married Leonard D. Jackson, Sr. and they had 4 children and shared a life together for 49 years until his death in 2000.
Barbara, will be united in heaven with her Parents, her Husband, her Son, Leonard D. Jackson, Jr., Brother Ralph E. Harris, and great Aunt, Frances “Puggie” Patterson.
To continue her legacy, Nonnie, as she is known to her Family leaves to mourn her Daughters, Karen A. Jackson-Knight, Debra D. Jackson-Bell, Carolyn D. Jackson-Wade. Her Grandchildren, Andrea & Sean Hopkins, Breon Jackson, Joseph & Dorine Wade. Her Great-Grandchildren, Chaz & Brittany Hopkins, Robert Brandon, Hamadi Yates, Elijah Hopkins-Howard, Kannon & Kai Bolden; and Great-Great Grandson, Chase Butler; 8-Sister in-laws, 3-Brother in-laws; a host of other Nieces & Nephews, and close Friends.
