Beatrice Tweh Obituary

Our Matriarch, Beatrice Nypanny Tweh was born unto the union of Isaac Wreh Sieh, son of Juwle-Tati-Sonpon and Lutecia Wla Wreh Sieh, Daughter of King Duwli Jlaka on September 4, 1938 in the Municipality of Grand Cess, Grand Kru County.

She received her primary education at the Government Central School under the tutelage of her cousin Alston Sawie Nah I and later at the Bible Industrial Academy in Grand Bassa. Beatrice graduated from the Suehn Industrial Academy as the salutatorian of her class and matriculated to the University of Liberia.

Beatrice was joined in matrimony to the honorable Matthew Wolo Tweh, Sr. and this union was blessed with six lovely children.

She left for the United States to pursue further studies and obtained a degree in Business Administration and Secretarial Science from Burdett College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Upon her return to Liberia, she joined the Ministry of Planning Economic Affairs as Administrative Assistant to the Minister and transitioned to the United Nations Rural Development Task Force and later, The National Housing Authority where she served in the capacity of Office Manager.

An active member in her community, She served in several leadership capacities, including, President of the United Methodist Women, National President of the YWCA, President of the Ecumenical Women and represented Liberia she at conferences all over the world. Close to her heart are the people of Grand Kru and was a vigilant supporter of the Grand Kru County Development Association.

A wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Hon. Matthew W. Tweh, Sr., her daughters, Olivia Sewon Tweh-Bestman, Velma Tugbehdi Tweh-Summerville, grandson, Thomas Cheah Bestman Jr., her sister, Lutecia Wla Wreh Nebo and most recently, her youngest brother, Samuel Kike Sieh, Sr.

Beatrice was a devout Methodist and a woman of great faith who championed uplifting girls and young women to maximize their fullest God given potential.
