Bryan D. Crawford was born on June 17, 1987 in Miami, Florida to Michele Stovall of Washington, D.C., and Evan Crawford of Anguilla, W.I. He entered the world with a spinal cord defect that left him unable ever to move his own legs and feet, or to walk. Nevertheless, he was a happy child, participating in Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts, and singing in the Youth Choir at The People’s Community Baptist Church (TPCBC). He also enjoyed adaptive Karate, basketball, swimming and tennis. Bryan made friends easily. As an outgoing person, and only child, he hosted teen dance parties with his friends at the house growing up, as well as his birthday parties at the bowling alley, swimming pool, beach, and Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Bryan graduated from Sherwood High School, Montgomery County, MD, where his favorite subject was French. He attended classes at Miami-Dade Community College, Montgomery College and the University of the District of Columbia, University College, in hopes of getting started on a path to a career in broadcasting. For years he engaged in community service at the CitiOpen tennis tournament, in Washington, DC, and at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, in Rockville, MD, and worked sporadically at a local veterinary clinic and at Home Goods. He enjoyed travelling to Florida, Georgia, California and New York, and once to Bangkok, Thailand.
Although he endured many struggles in life, Bryan prayed for his family, his friends and himself. May his life be found acceptable to our Lord, Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents and step-father, also praying for Bryan to receive his Heavenly Crown are his beloved aunts and uncles, Nikki Lee, Donna Fox, Terry Fox, Juanita and Robert White, and Romeo and Rochelle Stockett; cousins, step-siblings, church family and friends. Pre-deceasing Bryan were the grandparents who loved him and whom he adored, Ethel Fox (maternal), Gerald Fox (maternal), Florita Callender (paternal), and Virginia Barnes (step-grandmother).
