Chih-Chung Liu Obituary
Chih-Chung Liu was born on September 26, 1931, in Shandong, China, the eldest son of An-Chi Liu, a four-star general and former Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of China Army. His siblings included five sisters and a brother. After moving to Taiwan in 1949, he served in the military and enrolled in college there. To further his studies, he came to the United States in 1960 to attend graduate school at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he studied civil engineering and received his Master of Science degree.
In 1963, he married the love of his life, Diana Ho, who came from a prestigious family of scholars. They had three sons together and Chih-Chung found employment in Massachusetts as an environmental engineer to provide for his growing family. Not only was he a hard worker, but he also worked hard at being a good husband and a good father.
He cherished weekends fishing, playing mahjong and dining with friends, taking vacations with his family, and enjoying time with his grandchildren. At karaoke parties, he was known for his strong, rich, and deep baritone voice. He was a good cook, especially when it came to fish dishes and mantou. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and all the different colored roses that he planted around the house which he would often pick to give to Diana.
After retiring, Chih-Chung and Diana decided to move to Las Vegas where they enjoyed their time getting together with many of their old friends, dining at buffets, and watching live shows. After encountering some health challenges, they moved to Maryland in 2015 to be closer to their sons.
In 2024, Diana succumbed to illness and Chih-Chung became heart-broken without her presence. On May 18, 2026, he passed away peacefully at age 94 surrounded by his loving family who are comforted in knowing that he is back together again with his beloved wife.
Chih-Chung is survived by his son, Thomas, and his wife, Tzi-Ming; his son, Jimmy, and his wife, Chieh-Ming; and his son, Gary, and his wife, Janice. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Sydney, and Chase.
He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him
