Corey Dewayne Taylor Jr. “CJ” was born February 10, 2001, in Chattanooga TN to Courtney Coverdale and the late Corey Taylor Sr. Born Prematurely at seven months, and being the only boy, he was the baby of the bunch. CJ was a force to be reckoned with, but also a beacon of kindness and a gentle soul that touched all that knew him. He gave everyone a run for their money especially his two sisters. From the moment he came into our lives he filled or hearts with immeasurable love and laughter.
While attending Dalewood Middle and Brainerd High school in Chattanooga TN CJ found his passion for playing football and basketball. At the age of twelve CJ started his own lawn mowing business, which he enjoyed. In 2016 CJ moved to Gaithersburg MD, where he attended Watkins Mill High School and Seneca Valley High School. He was proud to make the football and track teams his schools. If CJ meet anyone in need, he would try his best to help them, even if it meant sneaking them into the house while his mom slept them shelter.
CJ shared an inseparable bond with his sisters often leading one to believe he was the older brother, instead of the youngest. Despite Life’s challenges he lived life to the fullest and faced each challenge headstrong and with great strength. He cherished every moment he got to spend with family and friends, especially his two daughters. There was nothing that CJ couldn’t do, and whenever you called him, he was there to help in any way that he could. He was always more than happy to tell anyone with a listening ear about the music he made and also about him studying to be a licensed Firearms Instructor. CJ had an avid love for animals. He was always finding stray animals and bringing them home, despite what his mama and great Grandmother said. But that was just his nature “The Boy” as his great grandmother often referred to him as. CJ will always be remembered for his smile and willingness to go the extra mile for the people he loved.
CJ was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Hazel Green and Gladys Banks, grandmother, Rozena Green, grandfather, Lehmon Taylor Jr., cousin, Ieashia Taylor and father, Corey D. Taylor Sr.
