Cynthia Gray Obituary

Cynthia Diane Butler Gray, 58, peacefully departed this life on April 16, 2022, and entered into eternal life. She was born on August 8, 1963, in Olney, Maryland to the late Willard Jones Sr. and Gertrude Butler.

Diane received her education with Montgomery County Public Schools where she also worked for 23 years until her illness forced her to into early retirement. She was an avid listener of gospel, old school and Go-Go music. She also was a diehard fan of the Washington Redskins (Commanders).

"The Warden", as she was affectionately known, had to make sure everything she had was clean and in its proper place. She would go out of her way to help anyone if she could. Diane loved her family (her husband, her son and two grandsons) along with everybody else. In 1993, she met the love of her life Scott L. Gray. Scott and Diane pledged their love to each other and got married on August 8, 2001.

Diane leaves to cherish her life and memory her loving and devoted husband Scott L. Gray; her son Dayvon Butler (Natasha); her two grandsons Dayvon Jr. and Daytoine; two step-children Deon Gray and Brittany Gray; one step-grandson Kaiden Gray and goddaughter Araina Johnson.

She also leaves behind five sisters, Delores Thornton, Joyce Francois, Wilma Jones, Sherlene Campbell and Mary Jones; eight brothers Crammer Butler, Kevin Butler (Penny), Michael Butler, Willard Jones (Hazel), Ronald Butler and George Jones; her aunt, Charlotte Thomas; uncle, Cleon Thomas; one brother-in-law Derrin Gray; her mother and father-in-law Everette and Pastor Diane Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude Butler and Willard Jones Sr.; two sisters Patricia Hammond and Janice Williams and one brother George Butler.

Your life was so unselfish.

For others you did live, not for what you could receive but for what you could give. So even though you have gone away, In our hearts you will always stay.
