“When someone loved becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure!!”. On the beautiful sunny day of August 24, 2025, Ms. Daisy Jackson, affectionately known as Bell and Ms. Daisy to those who knew and loved her, closed her eyes in death, leaving behind a beautiful treasure of memories in the hearts of many.
A longtime and vibrant resident of the Gaithersburg, Maryland community, Ms. Jackson made many friends, usually referring to everyone she met as ‘Sis’ or ‘Brother’. She enjoyed a wonderful life despite the challenges she encountered from the moment she entered the world. But His divine plan and guiding hand, God ensured that this once sickly child would thrive, choosing Mabel Washington as the vessel through which Daisy would receive life, and Clarence Sr and Elease Strong as the servants who would shape that life.
Daisy had an active childhood, even becoming well known as premiere softball player. Continuing to realize God’s plan for her life, Daisy spent her developmental years in South Carolina, Florida and Maryland, going on to complete school and eventually continued her education to receive training in nursing. God’s plan continued to unfold as Daisy, equipped with this training, went on to serve many years as a nursing aide in several nursing homes in the Montgomery County area. And in a fashion that only God could foresee, the industry in which she so faithfully served ended up serving her in the final chapter of her life. Daisy was an active member of the New Life Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Gaithersburg and made sure that wherever she lived she had a ride to church, and the New Life family made sure that Daisy knew that was loved with regular visits, singing and cards from the children, flowers and gifts on her birthday and holidays. Once again, God’s plan made this all possible.
In addition to those who gave and nurtured her life, Daisy’s family included her two sisters Ella Strong McCrae (deceased) and Sandra Strong Cooper, and her seven brothers (all deceased): Clarence Strong Jr., Walter Lee Strong, Curtis Strong, Dave Strong, Samuel Strong, Clyde Strong, and William James Strong; her daughter Mary; Martha McCrae Scott, and several grandchildren Emmett Washington, Tyrese Brown, Tyrell Brown, Tykeanna Brown, Stacey Thomas, Lorenzo A. Coleman, Dominic Coleman, Charles Coleman (deceased), and Michael Coleman; eight great grandchildren; and a host of cousins and loved ones.
We all love it when a plan comes together, so we celebrate God’s wonderful plan that was the life of Daisy Bell Jackson, whose memory we will forever cherish.
