David Brandon Obituary

David Elijah Brandon entered this life on the morning of July 29, 1988 in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Raimon Brandon and Melanie Carter. He transitioned from this life on the morning of February 24, 2019, in Washington, D.C. David was one of three children born to Raimon and Melanie, one of which preceded him in death, his sister, India Naomi Brandon.

David received his education through private and public institutions in Montgomery County, Maryland. He graduated from Springbrook High School, Silver Spring, MD, and Thomas Edison High School of Technology, also in Silver Spring, where he completed the HVAC Level 1 certification program. During his time at Edison, he was President and Vice President of the Student Government Association, and also received the Statesman Award.  He was also a member of the Junior Navy ROTC.

David underwent further training in the skilled trades at Woodstock Job Corps Center, Woodstock, MD, where he completed the Stationary Engineer Program of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Throughout his brief life, he was employed in various positions in the skilled trades.

David was Chief Operating Officer of the up-and-coming, local clothing brand, Yagadah (www.yagada.com). What began as a neighborhood term, quickly evolved into a popular, urban street-brand representing peace, love and doing what “yagadah” do (you gotta do) to ensure your personal growth. David was dedicated to the brand and was a huge reason the business achieved its early success. David worked first hand on design creation, the development of marketing schemes, production, sales, and much more.

David appreciated all types of music, and often spent time recording tracks with his friends. He enjoyed being at the beach, and he was a die-hard fan of the Washington Redskins. He could also be a bit a jokester from time to time. He loved his Nana’s coveted apple pie, which was typically available at family gatherings. He would cup his hands over the pie and boldly pronounce that it was only for him. Most loved and dearest to his heart was his daughter, Braelyn Makenzie Brandon, with whom he spent as much time as possible - toting her to the park, to birthday parties or to visit friends, reading to her, having her assist him when he cooked, and many, many other activities.

Left to mourn David’s untimely passing are his mother and step-father, Melanie and Robert Carter; his father, Raimon Brandon, and Nikita Berkeley, his partner; his brother, Matthew Brandon; his daughter, Braelyn Brandon, and her family; plus a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and other relatives, extended family and friends.
