Delores Sylvia Martin, born September 10, 1948, in Oakland, California, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2024. Delores was the beloved daughter of Gerald and Edna Wells and was a cherished resident of Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland.
A graduate of Amador High School in California, Delores was a vibrant and free-spirited individual who embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. Her career was as varied as her interests, from working in the hospitality industry to becoming a licensed real estate agent. Delores was also a certified nursing assistant, a role through which she expressed her deep compassion for others. Her nurturing spirit extended to owning and operating a home childcare center, where she provided a loving and supportive environment for children.
Delores had a deep passion for photography, teaching herself the entire process from taking stunning photos to developing film in her own darkroom. Her artistic talents also included painting, reflecting her boundless creativity. She was an exceptional cook, known for her ability to whip up a wonderful meal with whatever ingredients were available in the kitchen. Her culinary skills were a testament to her resourcefulness and love for bringing joy to those around her.
In her free time, Delores enjoyed playing bingo and Yahtzee, particularly with her grandson Caleb, and had a lifelong love for animals, always filling her home with the joy of dogs, cats, and birds. She had a love for travel and cherished exploring new destinations, often going on cruises with her beloved sister, Shirley. Delores also valued spending time with her family, indulging in reading and watching movies.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Edna Wells; her brothers, Jerry and Tony Wells; her sister, Shirley Roger; and her son, Aron Bendix. Her legacy lives on through her loving children Dayna (Reza) Rashidian, and her stepchildren, Eric (Zinnia) Priante Martin and Jessica (Mischa) Priante. Delores' pride and joy were her grandchildren, Caleb, Alonso, and Mischa, who were the light of her life.
She is also survived by her siblings Ricky Wells, Patty Ganoff, Phyllis Belieff, Herby Wells, Donnie Wells, Sharon Wever, and Dwight Wells, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Delores' warmth, creativity, and kindness touched many lives, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
