Devonte' Tyree Cooper was born at Shady Grove Hospital in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on November 11, 1992, to proud parents Tyrone Darby and Carolyn Michell Cooper. Devonte' departed this life on February 8, 2020, at Medstar Montgomery Hospital in Olney, Maryland. At a young age, Devonte' accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He found out at a very early age that he had many talents - writing music, rapping, a master of the drums (anyone who knows Devonte', knows that his passion was playing the drums), cooking and being around his family and friends. He was also known for his joke s. He always knew what to say to keep people smiling and in good spirits. When he entered the room, you were guaranteed to have a good time. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he spent countless hours with his special friend - or as he called her, his QUEEN - Quaeesha Graham, and enjoyed being a Godfather to Annalise Hazel-Hinton and Anastasia Hazel-Hinton. Devonte' was very active in the church. He played drums for various groups throughout the area, including his family group, the Morning Star Gospel Singers (in which his mother was a lead singer); First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar Choirs; Chosen Vessel Gospel Singers; Fellowship Baptist Church Choirs; as well as served as a backup drummer for many other groups/choirs in the area . Two of his greatest inspirations proceeded him in death - his grandfather, the late Vernon L. Cooper Sr. - who encouraged him in life and supported him with his love of music-; and his cousin-the late Tony E. Lyles Jr. who handed Devonte' his first set of drumsticks. Devonte' leaves to cherish his memories his parents: Tyrone Darby and Carolyn Michell Cooper; his grandmothers: Dorothy Cooper and Dorothy Woods; three brothers: Antoine Cooper (Star), Deshaun Young and Tyrone Darby; three nephews: Isaiah Cooper, Josiah Cooper and lmri Folkes; two nieces: Andrea Irby and Alina Cooper; aunts Patricia Hicks (James), Robin Lyles (Tony Sr.), Valerie Cooper, Tamica Wilkerson (Donnie), Johnnie Jenkins; uncles Vernon Cooper Jr. (lnita}, Russell Cooper, Jermain Cooper (Maria}, Marion Murray, Richard Murray, David Woods, John Scott, Larry Woods, James Wood, Carl Woods; great aunts Delores Dickens (Kaney}, Carolyn Gatlin, Mary Hinton and Delois Lee (Gregory); great uncles Theodore Kelley (Pam) and Robert Kelley, as well as a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Devonte' last quote to friends and family stated,"/ wish living bought us together like death does"!
