Dolores Rebecca Robinson peacefully departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025. Dolores was born on September 8, 1941, the youngest child of the late David and Jessie (Bell) Diggs. Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved siblings Maurice Oliver (Beulah) Diggs, William (Annie Ruth) Diggs, and Jessie (Curtis)Webster, as well as her treasured Cockapoo, Prince.
Dolores Robinson, affectionately known as “Tootie,” was born in Norbeck, Maryland, where she spent most of her childhood. She was educated in the Montgomery County Public School system and was deeply rooted in her community.
A devoted mother, Dolores was raising her daughter when she met the love of her life, Francis Allen Robinson, Sr. Their marriage spanned 59 years, blending families and building a legacy together. Their children include Wanda Ann Diggs-Williams, Francine Frazier, Angela Talley, Monica (Richard) Talley, Sonya (Carlos) Robinson-Taylor, and Francis Robinson Jr. Dolores was lovingly known as “Granny” to 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Though Dolores dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker, caring for her children and home, she also worked for the Housing Opportunity Commission as a Property Manager at various senior living communities. Dolores loved these experiences as she had a fondness for taking care of the elderly, making them feel safe and cared for. She carried that same caring spirit for her family and others all her life and was always there to help no matter the time or the day.
Dolores was also known for her talents for decorating and creating works of art. Her homes during the holidays were truly a sight to see and showcased many of her creations. Her hobbies brought great pleasure to her life and were something she was proud of. This enthusiasm for arts and crafts, along with her keen skills for decorating, inspired her to sell her creations as a side venture.
Family was at the heart of Dolores’s life, and she deeply valued the time spent with her loved ones. She found great joy in traveling, especially on family cruises and trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Charles Town, where she embraced the excitement and adventure each journey offered. Known for her impeccable sense of style, Dolores took pride in her appearance and attire, always presenting herself with grace and elegance.
Dolores is survived by her elder brother Wendell (Claudette) Diggs, whose presence she always cherished. Her brother-in-law Harold (Anita) Robinson, cousins Shirley Powell and Gretna Hagins along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
