Donna Strong Obituary

Donna Marie Thomas Strong was born on June 19, 1957 to the late Seymour E. Thomas Jr and Emma Louise Coleman Thomas. She departed this life on August 30, 2025. Gone too soon.

On January 11, 2009, Donna was united in marriage to Eric Strong. The union was later dissolved.

Donna was employed by the Avendra Corporation as a Billing Support Specialist. Donna graduated from Poolesville High School in Poolesville Maryland. After graduating, she attended Frostburg University, where she became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

As a young child, Donna was introduced to the church and the gospel. She attended Sunday school and bible study at Warren United Methodist Church in Martinsburg Maryland. This site is now recognized as one of the black historical sites in Montgomery County, Maryland. Donna loved being a member of the Junior Choir at Warren. She also served in the capacity of Church Treasurer for some years. She enjoyed working with the choir, planting flowers, and other types of foliage to beautify the church grounds. Donna loved Warren and worked with numerous Church Organizations and fundraising activities to raise money for the upkeep of the church and other buildings on the site.

After the closing of Warren United Methodist Historical site Donna attended and became a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church (PGCCC) in Damascus Maryland. On August 05, 2007, she was baptized at PGCCC by Pastor Lawrence Bryant. She also attended the Church of the Redeemer. She later found her home and joined the West Falls Church in Mount Airy, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Ross M. Jackson Sr. Donna studied ministry under the direction of Bishop Ross, Christian Heart Fellowship Ministries. On August 22, 2010, Donna received her Certificate of License in The Gospel Ministry.

Donna loved the Lord and her family. She loved family gatherings and she loved to cook. When asked who would bring certain dishes Donna was always chosen as the potato salad queen. She learned that from the best, her mama. She had family dinners and birthday celebrations in her home whenever she could.

Donna was one of nine siblings, five preceding her in completing their precious journey here on earth; Angela Thomas, Johnny Elliott Thomas, Carolyn Elaine Prather, Gerald Maurice Thomas, Barbara Ann Ambush. Donna leaves to cherish her memory four siblings; Seymour E. Thomas 111, Wayne Wesley Thomas, Judy Maxine Thomas-Younis and Joyce Ellen Christian, two goddaughters, Crystal J. Christian and Tara L. Christian, a sister-in-law, Brenda Thomas. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her very much as she also loved them in return.

She also leaves to cherish her memory, a very dear devoted, best friend and Soros sister, Beverly Butler. Beverly and Donna have been friends since they met at Frostburg University. They remained friends throughout the years and Donna, Beverly and Beverly’s sisters/friends made it a point to share vacation and social time as much as possible.

Donna has been welcomed by so many loved ones, waiting to greet her at the Pearly Gates. God took her by the hand and relieved her of all pain and suffering. Donna walked through the valley of the shadows of death, fearing no evil, for God was with her and guided her to the home he had prepared. Donna knew that GOD IS ALMIGHTY AND WORTHY TO BE PRAISED
