Drexel Markelle Lyles

Drexel Markelle Lyles was affectionately known as Kaycee, passed away on November 26, 2025. Drexel was born on May 5,1956 in Washington, DC to William Marshall Lyles (Father) and Shirley Markelle Lyles (Mother) who preceded her in death.

Drexel attended Catholic School and Montgomery County public Schools. She worked for Barn Allen where she served as a Data Entry Specialist.

Drexel never was the person to adhere to what society deemed normal she lived life her way without apologies. Impacting people all over the world whether it was through her smile, encouraging words, acts of charity, volunteering her time and talents or just living out loud.

Drexel had a melodic tune that she exuded throughout her life. If you ever had the pleasure of knowing her even when she spoke it sounded like a song. She had this laugh that would make everyone smile even when you wanted to be sad. She had a fond love for animals, and she made a home for many of them. 

Drexel was amazing at keeping in touch with family and friends. She cherished those special relationships until she took her last breath. There was never a day when she didn’t have a smile on her face. Even when life dealt her a difficult hand, she played it with tenacity and fervor. I fondly remember her always saying,” I’m going to beat this, I’m going to be okay.” Well, she most certainly did beat this battle with cancer and now she gets the rest that she worked hard for and earned.

There was never a concern about where she resided eternally because she knew the Lord at an early age and she was confident where her help came from.

Drexel leaves to cherish her memory, a host of Family and Friends. And I know she would want us all to continue to live life on our terms and live without apologies. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
