Ellen Ruth Brobson, age 83, passed away on June 5, 2026. She was born Ellen Ruth Councilman on June 2, 1943, to Walter Councilman and Elizabeth Blanche Councilman. She was one of four children and is preceded in death by her siblings Alma Rae Councilman, Lauretta Elaine Councilman, and John Leon Councilman.

In 1962, Ellen married Alfred Daubert Brobson, Jr. in Philadelphia. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland. A loving and devoted wife, she was also a dedicated and caring mother to her three sons: Alfred Brian Brobson, Michael Kirk Brobson, and Matthew Mark Brobson.

Ellen was deeply involved in her church and especially loved its choir and music ministries. She founded Maryland Music Ministries, creating a handbell ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel through music and worship. Professionally, she worked at a fabric store and later served as a store manager for La-Z-Boy Furniture.

Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Alfred Brian, Michael Kirk, and Matthew Mark; her grandchildren, Adele, Grant, Adam, Valorie, Geneva, and Walter.

Ellen will be remembered for her faith, her love of music, her devotion to her family, and the kindness and dedication she shared with all who knew her.

A memorial service celebrating Ellen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, Maryland 20841.
