Ethel Lucinda (Talley) Driver, affectionately known as “Puggie” and “Ms. Ethel” was born on December 30, 1939, the first-born child of Roland and Elizabeth Talley in Poolesville, Maryland.
Ethel was educated in the Montgomery County Public School System where she graduated from Carver Senior High School in 1958. One of her proudest moments upon graduation was being named Homecoming Queen.
She was a stay-at-home mom to her five children for many years and was known as the neighborhood mom for all the neighborhood kids. She loved her home and used her home decorating skills and green thumb to keep her house looking good for the many family gatherings and parties she and her late husband Tommy would host. Ethel was an extraordinary cook, known for her delicious potato salad.
In the early 70’s she re-entered the workforce with the National Geographic Society as a Data Analyst and retired after 25 years of service. She then went on to work for Montgomery County Public Schools as a Special Education Para-educator. She often referred to her students as “her babies” and they affectionately called her “Grandma.” She retired from MCPS after 15 years of service.
Ethel leaves to mourn her four children Sandra (Sonie), Ronald (Ronnie)(Angelika), Darnell (Donnie) and Donna, her grandchildren Adrian, Donavan, Ricardo, Everett, Gabriella, Kobe and great grandson Ezekiel. She was preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Driver (Tommy) and first-born son Arnold Edwin Driver (Onnie).
