Evelyn M. Buford
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn Mae Buford, 92, born on November 11, 1932, departed this life on February 10, 2025. A native of Montgomery County, MD, where she graduated from public schools. The daughter of the late Allen and Callie Thomas, 7th of 10 Children. She was preceded in death by her two loving sons, David Redman and Lewis Cooper. Evelyn had a passion for nurturing family and anyone in need with an open heart.
She received a B.S. degree in Social Science from American University, Washington, DC. Evelyn retired from the Nation Institute of Health as Chief of Ordering and Contracts. She worked for the Gelman Management Company as a Resident Manager of the Park Ellison Apartments. She was a member of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Rockville, MD and was affiliated with numerous civic, masonic, and religious organizations.
She is survived by her loving daughter Judy Wright, and son in-law Quienton Wright. One sister, Thelma Heatley, one brother Arthur Thomas, sister in-law LaVerne Thomas,13 grandchildren, Danielle Redman-Chase(Ian), Siobhan Johnson(Brandon), Dionne Redman, Shawnti Gales, Joshua Hackey to name a few, and many great-grandchildren Makai Fogg, Makayla Fogg, Miles Johnson, Iana Redman, and Jaylin Fofana.
