Evelyn Virginia McRoy was born on December 31, 1929, in Poolesville, Maryland and passed away on January 13, 2025. She was the only child to Margaret V. Moore. Evelyn received her education in Montgomery County Public Schools. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949.
On April 26, 1957, Evelyn wed Raymond C. McRoy, and the two remained wed until his passing on March 15, 1980. She became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in the same year. Before retiring, Evelyn spent 39 years as a teacher's assistant in the Head Start program at Montgomery County Public Schools. She had the ability to make everyone feel appreciated and cherished.
Evelyn leaves behind her four children Sharon, Gloria (James), Tony (Lupe), and Troy. Ten grandchildren Denon, Darnell, Yolanda (André), Tara (André), Molissah, Adam, Adriannis, Eddy, Brianna, and Tony Jr. Six greatgrandchildren Samara, Brandon, Morgan, Lauryn, Ava and Leo, and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will forever cherish the moments they spent together. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for family and friends.
Though she no longer walks amongst us, her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We take comfort in the legacy she leaves and in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to guide us.
Rest in peace, Momma, and Grandma, you will forever be in our hearts.
