On April 11, 2022 we lost our beloved father, grandfather and friend with the passing of Hasel Lee Jackson, affectionately known as Jack.
Hasel Lee Jackson was born January 19, 1940, the son of the late Archibald Sr. and Maria Jackson of Purcellville, VA. He attended Loudoun County Public Schools, graduating from Frederick Douglas High School in Leesburg, VA in 1958. During high school he worked as a Presser at Loudon County Dry Cleaners in Purcellville, VA and years later he moved to Washington, DC where he also worked as a Presser at Elite Cleaners. He later secured a position with the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and Retired at the age of 57.
In 1960, Hasel married Margurite Virginia Bennett of Damascus, MD. They were married for 52 years before her passing. From this union, they were blessed with two children Ron Fitzgerald and Margot Danyelle.
Hasel dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a devoted and active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, in Germantown, MD. Starting as a member, he became a Lay Leader, a member of the Trustee Board while serving his church community for over 40 years. Hasel was a man of action, he performed a variety of tasks from leading services, various repair projects, planning renovations and assisting with Bible Study.
For 37 years Hasel was a Letter Carrier, primarily at the Brentwood Post Office in Washington, DC. During that time, he developed skills in the building trades and landscaping. After retiring from the Post Office he applied his home improvement skills for the church, family and friends.
After living in Northeast, DC for several years he moved to Silver Spring, MD where he lived with his family for over 40 years. Then in 2008 he built a home in Upper Marlboro, MD to be closer to his children and grandchildren. There he returned to his rural roots and pursued his many passions such as gardening, caring for horses and raising chickens. He also enjoyed reading Our Daily Bread booklets and was energized by global news and politics.
Hasel was a dedicated family man and friend. Wherever there was a need you could find him helping. He visited often, and in later years he telephoned as well as sent personalized cards to loved ones.
Hasel leaves to cherish in his loving memory son Ron (Kim) and daughter Margot; grandchildren Lafond, Stepphond, Jordan, Jason and Camryn; great-grandchildren Evan, Avery, Stephanie, Sanaa, Xavier, Ahlia, and Amare; brothers Paul, Jerome and Steve Jackson; sisters Rosetta Wynn and Barbara Coe; sisters-in-law Betty Brown, Mary Bennett, Sadie Jackson and Katie Jackson.
