It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of James Tyler Cox, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, on 12-25-2024. Jim lived a life full of love, dedication to service, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories. He passed peacefully at home with his family.
Born on 9-28-1945 in Takoma Park, Md., Jim answered the call to serve his country with honor and dedication. As a proud veteran of the Marine Corps, he exemplified courage and commitment, earning the respect of all who knew him.
Jim had a profound love for the great outdoors, especially fishing, whether casting a line in his Potomac River or sharing stories by the water, he found joy and solace in nature. Jim had a passion for archery hunting and fishing, designing and crafting custom fishing lures that he shared with everyone that knew him. His handcrafted lures were a testament to his skill, creativity, and deep connection to his favorite pastime. These hobbies weren’t just activities but traditions he shared with his loved ones. His fishing trips often became cherished moments with his children, bonding generations over shared laughter and the simple pleasures of life.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man. He was the proud father of 2 children and a loving grandfather to 2 grandchildren. His unwavering support, warm hugs, and words of wisdom will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his former spouse Gale Boynton, and 2 sons Matthew and Daniel Cox and grandchildren Isabella and Elizabeth Cox. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Alice and his brother Billy.
Jim will be remembered for his selflessness, his passion for the outdoors, and the deep love he had for his family. May he rest in eternal peace, forever fishing in Heavenly waters.
