The late Mrs. Juliana Naana Mockey (Nee Asampong) was born on 21st of October 1963 at Breman Brakwai in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa of the Central Region of Ghana, West Africa to the late Stalin Kwabena Asampong and Agnes Akua Oduraa Gyambra. She was named Ama Kwaa after her paternal grandfather. Her Dad and Mum trace their lineage from Kokofu in the Ashanti region and Etwereso in the eastern region respectively, but both paternal and maternal grandparents settled at Breman Brakwa in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District in the Central region of Ghana. She was the last (“Piesie’) of six siblings.
As the first adorable child she was a natural leader, a unifier and very supportive, traits which all who encountered her would attest to.
Ama Kwaa childhood life began in the company of her siblings, Akua Nyarkoa and Ama Kumah of blessed memory were then with their paternal grandparents in Breman Brakwa. Upon the transfer of her dad to the Greater Accra region somewhere in 1976, all six siblings were brought together to live with their parents in Labadi.
Education: Naana attended the Presby Primary and middle School in Brakwa and Completed Successfully with the then Middle School leaving Certificate. After completion she furthered her education with the school of science and domestic catering in Accra due to her passion for cooking. After a while she switched from professional catering to buying and selling. She traded in textile which she bought from Cotonou Benin and Abidjan and Supplied to retailers in Makola and Kaneshie Market respectively in Accra.
Naana as she was affectionately called was the quiet and affable type who was always ready to give out her best when the need arose.
In 1995 Naana met Mr. Francis Mockey. They fell deeply in love with each other and got married till her demise on the 21st of August 2024.
They were blessed with three children, two boys and a girl, Francis, Michael and Chelsea Mockey.
She has left behind her mother, husband, children, siblings and a large family. Rest in the bosom of Father Abraham
