Kevin Edward Gene “Champ” Wilson
Kevin transitioned to glory peacefully at home with his sisters by his side on January 17, 2023.
Kevin, son of the late Charles and Eva Wilson, was born on November 1, 1954 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He lived a large portion of his early years in Silver Spring, Maryland, he graduated from Montgomery Blair high school in 1973.
Kevin then joined the United States Marine Corps, March of 1974. He was then stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina where he received recruit training. He went on to serve in Kansas City, Missouri before his deployment to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba where he served as Marine Infantry Rifleman. Kevin was very proud of his accomplishments throughout his career. He earned several metals, including The National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Rifle Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. After serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corp, he was honorably discharged, March of 1980.
He was a proud employee of the federal government. Kev worked 47 years at the Government Publishing Office in Washington, DC. Kev loved his career and the many friendships made throughout the years. After holding multiple positions within GPO, he went on to retire November of 2021.
He enjoyed restoring cars, fishing, listening to music, karate, casino trips, playing the lottery, spending time with family and friends, watching sports and cheering on his Washington Commanders!
He survived by his beloved fiancé Melodye Johnson, Sons; Kevin and Dathen Wilson, Sisters; Toni Gaither, Judy Doye, Valerie Johnson (William), Janice Sarvis, Tina Jackson (Ronald), Brother; Tubby Jackson (Cynthia), Godson Markell Parson. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Kevin will be missed dearly.
