LaVar Eric Prather was born to Walter and Almeta Prather on March 20, 1979, in Silver Spring, MD. He passed away on January 17, 2026, in Bethesda, MD.
Eric spent his early years in Rockville, MD, where he enjoyed playing baseball, the clarinet, and skateboarding. He later moved to Silver Spring and attended Kennedy High School, where he played football as an offensive lineman and learned to play the bass guitar. After graduating, he attended Lincoln Technical School and went on to build a career as a hardworking auto mechanic, with a special passion for vintage vehicles. His most recent position was with King Saturn in Rockville, MD. Eric loved his family deeply and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His final residence was in Bethesda, MD, where he passed away.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Almeta Prather, and his brother, Walter Moten. He is survived by his brothers Michael Prather (Santita), Kevin Prather (Tandrya), Todd Lancaster (Evelyn), and Scott Lancaster; his aunt, Alice May Hamilton; his uncles Calvin Johnson, Glen Johnson, Brian Johnson, and Larry Johnson; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.
