Lee Roy Smith Jr

November 19, 1944 - September 13, 2025

Lee Smith was born in the Bronx and raised by Lee Sr and Grace Smith. Lee was a driven achiever, both as an athlete and a businessman. He married his former wife Mamie and raised 3 sons, Lee Smith III, who resides in Montgomery Co, MD, Kwaw, who resides in White Plains, NY and Kwesi, who resides in Atlanta, GA.

He relocated to Maryland in 1985 to begin a career with the Allstate Insurance Co. 5 years later, Lee opened his own insurance agency, the Lee  Smith Insurance Agency in Silver Spring which was a highly successful agency for more than 20 years.

Lee's drive to achieve throughout his life led him to a large variety of experiences. He loved painting, fitness training, politics, collard greens, sweet potato casserole, Breyer's butter pecan ice cream, the Penn Relays and bananas.

In 1979, Lee discovered tennis in 1979 and became a tennis fanatic. He played it, watched it and read about it for 46 years.

He met Leslie playing mixed doubles in Fairfax, VA and they were life partners for almost 40 years.

But ultimately, Lee lost his last tennis match. Fortunately, his passion for life lives on...
