Leonard A. Altemus, Jr. (Tony) died peacefully at Collingswood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rockville, Maryland on June 7, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born January 11, 1948 in Washington D.C. to J. Matoka Altemus and Dr. Leonard A. Altemus, Sr. His primary education was completed at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Washington D.C. He did his best to help out when he could. He was quick to share his thoughts on the events of the day, and anything else that came to mind.
He is survived by two sisters, Matoka Altemus Walker of Richmond, Virginia and Ave Sloane (Milton) of Gaithersburg, Maryland; his wife E. Tameenah Altemus of Mableton, Georgia; his 3 children and their partners/spouses: Katurah Barr (Nathan) of Mableton, Georgia; Jadian Altemus (Mary) of Spring Valley, California; Delante Altemus (Stephanie) of Greenbelt, Maryland; 7 grandchildren: Briana Flores, Alyssa O'Dell, Maurice Altemus, Delante Peete, Jeremiah Peete, Joseph Peete, and Bethany Windham; 1 great grandchild, Amara O'Dell as well as a host of extended family including nieces and nephews, and lifelong dear friends and dedicated caregivers at Collingswood.
