Macario “Mac” Felizardo Santos, 93, of Rockville, MD, passed away peacefully, at his home in Rockville, MD on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born on February 29, 1932, he was the eldest of seven siblings to the late Benito Santos and the late Magdalena Felizardo in the Philippine province of Cavite.
He took great pride in being able to support his family by any means possible. He was no stranger to hard work and seemed to always have multiple jobs at any given time. Whether it was as a bus boy, bartender, waiter, barber, or cook, he would do whatever was necessary to provide for his family in the U.S. and the Philippines. In his free time, he liked to bowl, go crabbing at Solomons Island, or play a good competitive game of mahjong. Every summer he devotedly grew more tomatoes than any single family could eat.
He served in the United States Coast Guard for over 22 years and worked as a cook in the Marriott Hotel in Bethesda for another 18 years. He was married to his wife, Norma, for over 65 years and they raised two sons, the late Roberto and Jeffrey.
He is survived by his wife Norma, his brother Rudy, his son Jeffrey, and Jeffrey’s partner Morriah.
