Margaret was born on April 10, 1940, in Peterman, Alabama. She graduated from Monroe Training School in Beatrice, Alabama, in 1958 and completed studies at Pensacola Junior College before starting her 30-year career at Bell South. She excelled in her duties as a telephone operator, service technician, and accountant assistant. She received many accolades over her successful career, including achieving perfect attendance for 25 straight years. She also worked an additional 10 years at Allstate Insurance company as an agent support specialist.
Margaret is survived by her mother, Maggie Hamilton, her son, Michael Lewis (Karen), her devoted granddaughters, Christine and Amber Lewis, two great-grandchildren, Jace and Ava, her brothers, Bill Ray Hamilton (Claudia) and Herman Hamilton, her sister, Eunice Hamilton, (Tyrone Wright), and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Margaret was an avid collector of silverware from around the world and commemorative dolls. She had a strong interest in nature, sports, politics, and various cultures and loved to learn about the world around her through books, documentaries, and other forms of storytelling. Margaret enjoyed fashion and always carried herself with style and grace. Margaret’s favorite activity and passion were spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her home would transform into a giant playhouse anytime they visited, and she was always available to assist them at a moment's notice, just like she did for her granddaughters many years earlier. Margaret was a believer in Jesus Christ and often spoke of how He has made himself real in her life. She is undoubtedly at peace in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
