Martha Tibbs Carter

Martha entered into eternal rest at Casey House in Rockville, MD at the age of 91, following a brief illness. She was born on September 13, 1932, to the late Charles H. Tibbs and Alice L. Hamilton Tibbs.

She received her education in Montgomery County Public School system, graduating from Lincoln High School in Rockville, MD. She continued her education in Cosmetology, at Apex Beauty College. Upon completion, she worked at Beautyroma by Evelyn, and she was an excellent stylish working for over 20 years in the profession. After which she entered the Federal Government and worked for another 20 years. She retired from the federal government with an exceptional record.

Martha was reared in a Christian home where Christ was the head. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She later moved her membership to People Congregational Church in Washington, DC. She remained there until she moved back to Maryland. She loved her God and was a faithful member.

She met and married the love of her life, Warren Carter and God blessed them with 60 plus years of wedded bless until he passed.

Martha leaves to cherish precious memories, her daughter, Marsha Lynn Carter, sister Hattie Tibbs Ward, Las Vegas, Nevada, adopted sister, Etoile de Hawkins (Vernon); 1 nephew, 1 niece, 2 great nephews and 2 great nieces; relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alice Tibbs, sister, Ella Thornton, brothers Herbert, Henry, and Leonard Tibbs.
