Marylyn Strickland Obituary

Marylyn Strickland, 57, passed away on July 13, 2026, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She was born on August 3, 1968, in Washington, D.C., and lived a life filled with energy, laughter, and a deep love for the people around her.

Marylyn was known for her feisty spirit, warm personality, and ability to make those around her smile. She embraced life wholeheartedly and found joy in the things she loved most—sports, music, traveling, and sharing great food with family and friends. Whether cheering on her favorite team, planning her next trip, or enjoying a meal with loved ones, she created memories that will be treasured for years to come.

She attended Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she built lasting friendships and continued to grow into the remarkable woman so many came to know and love. Marylyn was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an organization that reflected her commitment to sisterhood, service, and lifelong bonds.

Above all, Marylyn’s greatest pride was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jeniece and JT, who were the center of her world. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jaxson, Jette, and Jordie, whose lives were brightened by her love, strength, and joyful presence.

Marylyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Jannette Carter, and her siblings, Genise, Roger, and Stevie Carter. Though their absence was deeply felt, she carried their love and memories with her throughout her life.

Those who knew Marylyn will remember her for her vibrant personality, unwavering spirit, and the genuine way she connected with others. Her laughter, resilience, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
