In Loving Memory of Norma Evon Trotman

The world lost a true original this week with the passing of Norma Evon “TT” Trotman at the age of 96. Born to Barbadian parents in La Boca, Canal Zone, Panama in 1928, Norma brought laughter, joy, love, and an endless supply of sharp wit to every room she entered.

Norma dedicated 30 years of her life as a behavioral health associate in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital. After her retirement, TT spent her years traveling the world with family, dancing to salsa music, telling jokes, Telenovelas, “Caso Cerrado”, true crime shows, the Opera, cheering for Michigan, and enjoying fine cuisine.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved son Neil Trotman, daughter Darlene Trotman, sister Mignon King, brother Heskeith King, and her parents Muriel and Heskeith King.

She is survived by her devoted niece and nephews Romelia (Temistocles), Ray (Deneen), and Dwayne (Zina), her great-nieces and nephew Karen, Jeanine (Felicia), Lisa, Brian (Meghan), her great-great-nieces and nephews Janae, Jordan, Jeniah, Ray, Raven, Eliana, Isabel, Tatyana and Telicia, and her great-great-great-niece Chloe. She also leaves behind her best friend Alourdes Cambry and countless friends who still quote her one-liners during family dinners. TT absolutely loved her 4-legged great great nieces and nephew, Lexus, Raina, Omega and Lola “Mary”.

In her honor, the family asks everyone to share a joke, dance a little, and never take life too seriously. TT would’ve wanted it that way.

Rest in peace, TT. Heaven just got a lot livelier —and a whole lot funnier.
