Obituary

Patricia Louise Ifield (nee Hill), age 72, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023, at Hillhaven Assisted Living Facility in Adelphi, MD. She was born on June 2, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York. Patricia was the daughter of the late Christine Hill (nee Steele) and the late James Richard Hill.

Patricia graduated from Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge High School in 1969. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Brooklyn College. She married her husband, Charles Ifield, in 1982 and they relocated to Montgomery County, Maryland to raise their children, Ayanah and Bassel. Patricia absolutely loved being a mother first and foremost, pouring all of her love and time into raising her children. You could always count on her to be on the sidelines of every sporting event, Girl Scout meeting, and any other activity her children participated in. She especially enjoyed the holiday festivities with her family.

Patricia ran a successful at-home daycare for many years where she was able to care for and nurture many children. She was known as Ms. Pat; she treated them all like her own and had a very positive impact on their upbringings. Patricia later accepted a position with the Maryland State Department of Education-Division of Early Childhood Development. She was responsible for at-home daycare operations throughout the state. After a successful career, she retired in 2016.

Upon retirement, Patricia had time to devote to an old favorite hobby, dancing. In her younger years she could always be found on the dance floor, dancing the night away at the disco. She was always the life of the party. During her golden years, she kept busy with tap dancing and ballroom dancing lessons. Patricia loved dressing up for recitals and performing at the Weinberg Theater in Frederick, MD.

Patricia is survived by her loving son, Bassel Tesfaye Ifield (Candice); cousin, Brenda Greir-Miller (A.G.); half-brother, Carlos Woodward, and extended cousins and family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond Ifield; daughter, Ayanah Karimah Hackett; twin brother, Richard Hill; and half-brother, Johnnie Woodward Jr.

Patricia had a beautiful love for life and lived each day to its fullest. She never missed the opportunity to tell a joke, funny or not, with the hopes of putting a smile on your face. Patricia will be greatly missed; her memories will be in our hearts forever.
