Richard Scott, 64 years old, passed away on October 7, 2024, in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born on May 22, 1960, in St. Catherine, and grew up in Kingston, Jamaica


His early education was at Bumper Hall Primary School, followed by Kingston College High School, after which, he furthered his advanced studies at the University of Technology, in Kingston, Jamaica, and later, at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. His academic pursuits prepared him for a successful career, first, as a respected teacher at Titchfield High School in Portland, Jamaica, and as an Auto Cad Surveyor/Drafter at various engineering firms in Maryland and Virginia, where his professionalism and dedication earned him admiration from students and colleagues alike.


Beyond his professional life, Richard was an avid sportsman, who played cricket, and passionately played and coached soccer and volleyball. He also enjoyed playing golf and going fishing. His love of sports was only matched by his humble, kind, and confident nature. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Lorenza, and was also a devoted father to his son’s Ryan and Jason, and his stepchildren, Lauren, Andrew and Brian. He was a loving and supportive brother to his sisters, Faithlyn, Michelle, Judith, and his brother, Gary, Richard was preceded in death, by his Father, Arnold Scott, his mother, Gloria Scott, and his brother, Gary Scott. He was an authentic person, a very cool guy, and his loyalty to his friends was unmatched. He was a cherished figure in his community, and he was loved and respected by those who knew him. His legacy will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
