Ross Cassidy, was born on September 25, 1940 in Cheraw, South Carolina. He was one of four children born to the late Newette and Berthell Cassidy. Ross departed this life on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
He accepted Christ at an early age at the St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful and dedicated member, even throughout his college years. After graduating high school , Ross attended South Carolina State University, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. His education was interrupted and Ross enlisted in the Armed Forces where he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.
Upon returning home from the war, Ross resumed his studies and completed his degree at the Federal City College which is now the University of the District of Columbia (UDC).
Ross's career included years of service in the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. Throughout his career, he received several accommodations and awards for outstanding and dedicated service.Ross retired from the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2003.
Ross was known for showing his love and attentiveness to his family. He will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty as a husband, father, son, brother and friend. Ross attended worship services with his family at The People's Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland in 2016 until his health began to decline.
He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad with his family. Going by cruise ship was his most favorite mode of travel. His other favorite pastimes included football, reading, and listening to jazz music.
Ross leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Veronica Cassidy; his son, Craig Cassidy; two sisters, Augustine Benton of Cheraw, South Carolina and Joyce Cassidy of Stockbridge, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Ross was preceded in death by his sister, Thomasine Samuels, of Hartford, Connecticut .
