Ruth Crowell Johnson

Ruth Crowell Johnson was born in North Carolina on February 15, 1936 and passed away quietly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Ruth was a resident of Takoma Park, Maryland. She leaves a legacy to be celebrated by her loved ones. 

Ruth Crowell Johnson was born February 15, 1936, in Halifax, North Carolina to the late Gertrude Crowell and Andrew Crowell. She was preceded in death by three children: Toni Renee Gordon, Jimmy Gordon, and Michael Gordon. Ruth was a loving, caring, and hardworking mother. She worked various jobs and eventually became a thrift store owner. Ruth retired from this position to finally "live her life" as she would say.

Ruth left an indelible mark on those she cared for and worked with. She was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith left a legacy that will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Deborah Young, and three sons: Darryl Johnson, Derrick McBride, and David Johnson. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Monique, and leaves to cherish her memories grandchildren: Michelle, Michael G., Jerome, Sebastian, Michael, Antonio, Derrick, Donald, Phil, Dominique, Breonna, Keyonna, Robert, Andrew, Moesha, Hawwa, and more. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Davarius, Michael jr., Milana, Austin, Cesar, Giovanni, and Aneesa as well as a host of other family members.
