Sharleen Ming Obituary

Sharleen Alicia Ming, lovingly known as Crabby, Shar Shar, and Shar Ming, was born on September 6, 1983, in Jamaica. She passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at 8:23 a.m., after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her departure leaves a profound void in the lives of all who loved her, but her legacy of generosity, community, and unwavering love will continue to shine.

Sharleen dedicated her life to caring for others. After earning her Medical Assistant license and associate degree, she built a meaningful and respected career in healthcare. She served as a medical assistant at Capital Cardiology in Albany, New York, for four years. When she and her wife, LeDonna Peters, moved to Maryland in December 2021, she continued to grow professionally—working first at Johns Hopkins, then at George Washington University Hospital, and ultimately at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda beginning in 2023. She was diagnosed with lung cancer just ten months into her time at Walter Reed, yet even in her most difficult moments, her compassion and commitment to helping others never wavered.

Sharleen and LeDonna’s love story began in 2011. Although life briefly pulled them apart, they found their way back to each other in 2013 and remained inseparable from then on. Their bond deepened as they built a life rooted in laughter, adventure, and steadfast devotion, culminating in marriage on September 26, 2022.

To know Sharleen was to be touched by her brilliance and warmth. She loved cooking, dancing, going on adventures with LeDonna, and uplifting friends and family with her natural gift for counseling and support. She loved feeding her family and friends, and her meals felt like a warm hug! Nourishing not only their bodies but their spirits as well. Sharleen was a joyful presence who brought people together effortlessly, leaving lasting impressions of love and unity wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her father, Irving Blackwood. She is survived by her devoted wife, LeDonna Peters; her mother, Dahlia Thompson; and her sisters, Judith Gordon and Donnette. She also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues who will forever cherish the light she brought into their lives.

Sharleen was a force of nature! Strong, vibrant, and endlessly giving. LeDonna shares that she will miss her wife terribly and is unsure how to navigate life without her, but she will try, because she knows that is what Sharleen would want. In honoring her memory, she will continue striving toward the dreams Sharleen encouraged so fiercely.

Sharleen’s legacy will live on in every heart she touched. She will be remembered with deep love, gratitude, and admiration.
