Shirley Arrington Obituary

Shirley Ann Arrington, 79, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. A woman defined by her hardworking nature and kind nurturing soul, Shirley was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around her.

Born in Geneva, Ohio on March 1, 1946, Shirley was the daughter of the late George and Rener Belle Hagler. She graduated from Dyke College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business, setting a strong foundation for a career in Finance until retirement. While she had numerous professional accomplishments, her personal life was defined by an enduring love story. A devoted wife, Shirley was married to her high school sweetheart, the late Al Arrington, for 57 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter and raised their pride and joy, Lindsay and Corey.

In recent years, Shirley relocated to Maryland to be closer to her family, where she enjoyed exploring new places throughout the region, capturing memories and cataloging them in numerous photo albums. Her creativity was evident during the holidays, when she enjoyed crafting and baking, particularly pineapple cookies, with her grandsons Wesley and Austin. Whether she was watching tv with her beloved Al, shopping with her daughter, listening to the music of Earth, Wind & Fire, or relaxing with her grandpups, Koda and Louie, Shirley cherished every moment spent with family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Al Arrington; her parents, George and Rener Belle Hagler; her sisters, Jean Hagler and Betty Hagler; and her brother, Bobby Hagler. Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family, including her daughter, Lindsay Arrington; her son, Corey (Farrah) Arrington; and her sister, Gail Hagler. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Wesley and Austin, who brought her immense happiness.

Shirley lived her life with grace and compassion, leaving a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of those who knew her.
