Tai Wu Obituary

In Loving Memory of Mr. Wu Tai Cheng

Mr. Wu Tai Cheng, born in Shunde, Guangdong, China, on March 23, 1936, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 88.

Mr. Wu was the fourth child in his family, born into a lineage that transitioned from politics to commerce. From a young age, he demonstrated an exceptional intellect and a love for learning. His talents extended beyond academics, with a keen interest in physical pursuits. He was known for his humor, perseverance, and strong moral character—traits that defined him as a true scholar.

His childhood was shaped by the hardships of war-torn years, and the political turbulence of his youth tested his values. Despite the challenges, he remained steadfast in his beliefs, with his bright eyes and warm, confident smile reflecting his unwavering spirit.

In 1958, he moved from southern China to the northeast, where he met and married a compassionate and talented doctor. Together, they raised three daughters and a son, and their love blossomed into a legacy that continues through their twelve grandchildren.

As a design engineer, Mr. Wu was deeply passionate about his profession. Even as Alzheimer’s slowly took its toll on him, he continued to sketch intricate designs, finding joy in his work. He took immense pride in his contributions to society and his career, which were a testament to his dedication and expertise.

His love for his family was paramount. To provide better opportunities for his children, he made the selfless decision to leave behind his career and move abroad. His wisdom, diligence, and unwavering love became a beacon for his children and grandchildren, creating a lasting legacy of resilience and integrity.

In the memories of his children, Mr. Wu is remembered as a devoted and disciplined father—always striving to create a brighter future for his family. He taught his children valuable life lessons, such as the importance of hard work, honesty, and kindness. His sincerity, thrift, and commitment to family created countless warm, happy memories, even during times of scarcity.

Over the past ten months, we witnessed his gradual decline. We are grateful for the peacefulness of his passing, without prolonged suffering. His life journey is now complete, and we know he would want us to honor him with strength and gratitude, not sorrow.

We are comforted in knowing that he left this world with dignity, embarking on a new journey of freedom, light, and reunion with loved ones who passed before him.

“Whether or not there is an afterlife, and regardless of whether we have the chance to meet again, we want to say to you, Father, Grandfather—thank you for giving us life, for raising us, and for dedicating everything you had to us. We will never forget you. May you find pure, carefree happiness in heaven, free from the burdens of the past. We will always remember and love you.”
