Valda Lomax-Parker Obituary

In Loving Memory of Valda Veralyn Lomax-Parker

With profound sadness, we share the passing of Valda Veralyn Lomax-Parker—a cherished daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend—who departed this life unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 69.

Born on August 26, 1956, in Maryland, Valda was the beloved daughter of William E. Lomax and the late Shirley E. Lomax. She was raised in a nurturing home, surrounded by the love of her family and the spiritual guidance of her church community at Queens Chapel United Methodist Church, both of which helped shape her into the vibrant and giving individual she became.

Valda dedicated much of her professional life as a Sterile Technician Supervisor at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Her commitment, leadership, and compassion earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Beyond her career, Valda was a gifted singer whose voice brought comfort and joy to many. As a member of the beloved gospel group The Lomax Sisters, she sang alongside her sisters, sharing messages of hope and faith through music. Her passion for song also led her to serve as the director of the Queen’s Chapel UMC Young People’s Choir, where she inspired others with her talent and unwavering devotion. She also served as a youth ministry leader, guiding and nurturing young hearts with her wisdom, kindness, and faith.

Family was the cornerstone of Valda’s life. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones and was known for her culinary talents—always ready to bring people together with her delicious home-cooked meals and warm hospitality.

Valda leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity. She is survived by her son, Steven L. Parker, II; her father, William E. Lomax; her sisters Sharon (Gregory), Dorothea (Joseph), and Lolethia (Andre); and her brothers Darrett (Cynthia), Danzell, and Rendel (Stefanie) and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley E. Lomax.

Valda will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her unwavering faith, and the beautiful voice that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Though she has departed from this world, the light of her love and the echoes of her song will forever live on in our hearts.
