On Angel Wings, Wendy Ann Decker Burton passed from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Born in Oregon on August 20, 1971, Wendy was raised by her parents, Larry and Virginia Decker, and reared with her older brother Weston. In 2001, she married Charles L. Burton, Jr. They raised four beautiful daughters, Sierra Monique, Charnyse Lynn, Charde Lea, and Dez Ava-Riley: alongside five other siblings.
The Decker Family moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1973, where Wendy would grow into the lovely woman to which all had come to know, love, and adore. Wendy took on many pastimes as a child, although competitive swimming on the local swim team was her best-loved sport. She graduated from Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Institute in 1989; this would take her into full entrepreneur status, as the owner/operator of "A Touch of Class" hair salon in Ruckersvi lle, Virginia. Here clients would frequently fill her books for excellent skill, service, and chair-time conversation with Wendy. She relocated to Louisa, Virginia, continuing to venture forth her professional career at the University of Virginia as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Cardiac Research Lab. Wendy always wanted to make a difference. With that, she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant license providing intimate, hands-on healthcare to the senior community. Some years later, the Burton Family would move to Waldorf, Maryland. With this move, Wendy joined the George Washington Medical Faculty Associates; Cosmetic Dermatology Department in 2017, where she worked as the Patient Service Specialist with the expectation of holding a new role as the Cosmetic Concierge, serving as the department's face before her untimely passing . Colleagues will miss her tender-heart and small acts of kindness, while patients that asked for her by name will miss her voice over the phone and helpful engagements in the clinic.
Wendy had an affinity for decorating. Her family would often find her culling over the internet searching for DIY decorating and home improvement websites, seeking new ideas. She was, by definition, the "Centsational Girl' -- she did it all. Her husband smiles with warm affection in how Wendy managed their busy family as household CEO, facilities manager, laundry operator, housekeeper, cook, call center representative, travel agent, teacher - and much more. She enjoyed travel and spending time with her family. A beach or lake destination was always high on the list for weekend family getaways; water was her calm place. Albeit Wendy was compellingly their Super Mom and Wife, her family will never forget all the individual sacrifices, time, care, and love she poured into each of them; no ask was ever too great. She would knock the Earth off its axis and change the seasons if it stood in the way of aiding her children.
Wendy has joined her father, Larry Decker, in Heaven. Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Charles; her mother Virginia Decker; her daughters Sierra, Charnyse, Charde, and Dez; stepchildren Charles, III, Tiera, Sharqae, Cheyenne, and lmani; grandchildren; Rhian, Isaiah, Nevaeh, Micah, McKenzie, Mason, Lila, and Kai'lah; her brother Weston and his wife Lisa Decker; brother-in-law Eric Pittman and Brian, Jr., and his wife Cristina Johnson; sister-in-law Wendy Pittman; mother and father-in-law Doris and Brian Johnson; cousins and numerous other relatives and friends.
