Willia was born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 6, 1944, to the late Eddie Thompson Sr. and Phoebe Jackson.
She was preceded in death by four sisters Lelar Pearl Crenshaw, Mattie Mae Hamlin, Louis Potts, and Naomi Tabourne; and four brothers Frank Thompson, Jr., Eddie Thompson, Tyrone Thompson, and Raymond Thompson.
She is survived by her a son Wayne Legendre, Jr. (Nicolle); three grandchildren Wayne Legendre III, Nicollus Legendre, and Kyhnadi Legendre; nieces Preda Logan (Edward) Sharon Sweet, Sabrina Worthington (Hunter), Denise Adams (Walter), and Marilyn Pouncy, Cassandra Greer, Portia Webster, Detra Ford; nephews Carlton Griffin, Anthony Griffin, Tony Thomas, Eddie Hamlin, Raymond Thompson Jr., Gene Atkins, Donald Crenshaw Jr. Rodney Atkins and Rodrick Atkins; great nieces and nephews Kenton Spellman, Nashima Hines, Precious Trotter (Greg), and Atiya Wilborn (Eddie), and host friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched.
Willia was educated in the City of Norfolk Public School
In 2007, she retired from the Hampton Road Transit Authority where she worked as a bus operator for 21 years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family and she spent her later years being an active grandmother attending football, soccer, dance, karate, and basketball games where she was a very vocal cheerleader for her grandchildren.
Willia departed this life on May 14, 2022, after a brief illness. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love.
